In 2008 Walnut Grove Elementary School in Franklin, Tennessee held their annual Rock-N-Roll Read-A-Thon on February 29th. Leap Day! The 650+ students were dressed for a sock hop in 1950’s costumes, and I was deeply impressed with the artwork on display by students. In fact, much of the artwork from Walnut Grove has found its way into banners for my websites and catalogs. 2010 Author Visit Catalog
Students’ depictions of Tiny and Mother Turtle were especially heart-warming. I do not see Mother Turtle art very often.
These pictures of Mother Turtle form a border above and below my Tiny Snail 10th Anniversary Poster.
I returned to Walnut Grove Elementary on March 1st, 2013. Five years later the students and staff are still celebrating their Rock-N-Roll Read-A-Thon. Congrats to all the awesome readers at Walnut Grove. Read on!
