Tuesday Afternoon (October 4, 2011) I visited McKelvey Elementary in Maryland Heights, Missouri, a suburb of St. Louis. McKelvey is in the Parkway School District, and the librarian, Shelly Schone, met me previously during my author visit at Claymont Elementary (October 14, 2009).
Other staff members recalled my talk at the Parkway School District’s Young Author Conference (April 17, 2010). McKelvey has over 600 students this year, and with roughly 200 children in each presentation, the program took place in McKelvey’s gym.

4th-5th 1:45 PM – 2:35 PM
The book signing was in the library from 2:40 to 3:30. Children collected their autographed books in person, and I had my picture taken with many of them. I especially enjoyed the “Snail Wall.”
Second grade students colored and cut out my Tiny Snail Activity entitled “Tiny Snail taught me…” I love it when students write, “to never give up” or “keep trying.” Tiny Snail has been in print for more than a decade, but she continues to make a big difference!
